A Reminder as Ramadan Approaches 🌙

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

It’s Syed, and as you know, I’m passionate about helping Muslims not just with their businesses but also in connecting our efforts with our deen.

Whether it’s running a halal business or improving our spiritual habits, everything we do is an opportunity to grow closer to Allah.

So today, I want to share a reflection I had after this week’s Friday khutbah.

The message really hit home as we prepare for Ramadan, In shaa Allah. The imam reminded us of key actions we can start practicing now to make the most of this sacred month.

Here’s a quick summary of the khutbah’s points:

1️⃣ Show Justice in All Areas of Life

Justice (adl) isn’t just about fairness in big issues—it’s about how we act every day:

  • Treating family members with patience and kindness.
  • Being honest in your business dealings.
  • Taking care of your health and spiritual needs.

💡 Justice during Ramadan helps us align our actions with the values of Islam.

2️⃣ Give Sadaqah in All Forms

The khutbah emphasized that sadaqah isn’t limited to giving money. It includes every act of kindness:

  • Smiling at someone.
  • Sharing your time to help others.
  • Teaching someone a skill or giving beneficial advice.

💡 Reminder: Sadaqah doesn’t have to be big to be impactful—small, consistent acts invite barakah into your life.

3️⃣ Make Tawbah (Repentance)

Ramadan is the perfect time to seek forgiveness, but why wait? Start now by making sincere tawbah:

  • Reflect on your shortcomings.
  • Ask Allah for forgiveness and make an effort to improve.
  • Seek forgiveness from those you’ve hurt.

A Du’a for Tawbah:
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration:
Allahumma ighfir li warhamni watub ‘alayya, innaka anta at-tawwab ur-raheem.

Translation:
“O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, and accept my repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of Repentance, the Most Merciful.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 3835)

4️⃣ Practice Ikhlas (Sincerity)

Every act of worship in Ramadan—and beyond—should be done purely for Allah. Whether you’re fasting, praying, or giving charity, sincerity (ikhlas) transforms ordinary actions into acts of worship.

💡 Reflection: Check your intentions and ensure every effort comes from a place of devotion to Allah.

🌟 Final Thoughts:
The imam reminded us that Ramadan is a gift, and it’s up to us to prepare our hearts and actions for this incredible opportunity. Starting now gives us time to build habits that will carry us through Ramadan and beyond, In shaa Allah.

Jazakum Allahu Khair for being part of this journey. Let’s make this Ramadan the best one yet!
